Raw bars have always been about more than food. They draw out the curious, the ones who taste, compare, debate, and laugh while doing it. There’s an energy around a raw bar that’s hard to replicate.

Serving that energy drives us. Delivering the freshest, most interesting shellfish possible isn’t about presentation, it’s about honoring the moment when people celebrate.

The CLAMBULANCE doesn’t represent a single farm or growing area. Instead, each event brings together oysters and shellfish from across Southern New England, the Vineyard, and beyond.

This variety gives guests something rare, the chance to search for nuance, find favorites, and experience how place shapes flavor. It gets people talking.

Everyone has their own preference, and that personal discovery is part of the experience. Making guests a little happier at the table has always been the goal.

Captain & Chef Beau Begin

rooted in the South Coast

The CLAMBULANCE was founded by Beau Begin, whose life has always been shaped by the waters of Southern New England.

Beau’s connection to seafood is generational.

His family settled in New Bedford in the late 1800s. French Canadian by heritage, they became part of a town shaped by fishing and defined by its relationship to the ocean. New Bedford remains the largest fishing port in North America, with a long tradition of working waterfronts and fresh seafood moving directly from boat to table.

Growing up in the SEAFOOD CAPITAL OF THE WORLD, Beau knows exactly what fresh means. That standard has never changed.

Learning the Water

Beginning in his teenage years, Beau spent summers living on boats, working and fishing on Martha’s Vineyard. He knows these waters as well as anyone; having a firsthand understanding of the coastal environment and fishing culture.

By making the Vineyard his permanent home and choosing to raise his family here, Beau has made a lasting commitment to sharing the very best of the island with his clients, bringing forward his knowledge and his love for the finest seafood.

Vineyard Sound Raw Bars

In 2012, Beau founded Vineyard Sound Raw Bars, steadily building a reputation for exceptional quality, sourcing, and trusted service. As the business grew over its first decade, Beau set out to elevate the one-of-a-kind experience he had created by launching the CLAMBULANCE.

The CLAMBULANCE(s) quickly caught everyone’s attention across the island, bringing smiles wherever they appeared and blending lighthearted humor with an unforgettable culinary experience. When you arrive at a party and see a CLAMBULANCE parked in the driveway, you know it’s not your typical Emergency, it’s a CODE RED for a seafood extravaganza!

Chef Beau proudly serves the finest oysters in the world. Our lobster and shrimp, personally sourced by him, represent the highest level of quality available.

CLAMBULANCE is built on more than one set of hands, it’s a permanent team effort.

Every shucker working an event is either a shellfish grower or a fisherman. The people behind the table know the waters, the growing areas, and the product, and that knowledge shows in every detail. It’s a shared understanding that keeps the experience grounded and the standards high.

Community, Stewardship

and Responsibility

The CLAMBULANCE supports the local community wherever possible, donating services to organizations like the MV Shellfish Group and the Vineyard Conservation Society.

Sustainability isn’t a talking point, it’s built into how we operate. The main CLAMBULANCE is electric. Solar panels power the ice machines and vehicle. Oysters filter algae from the water, naturally absorbing carbon, and the CLAMBULANCE delivers these carbon sinks to consumers without adding carbon to the atmosphere. The result is a carbon-neutral raw bar business that respects the coastline it depends on.
